Many people think success is money or material possessions, while others think of it as freedom and independence. There is some gigantic distortion of belief that leads us to accept as true that success is an event that is experienced after hard work. But plenty of people work hard every day without the success they seek.

The truth of it is that success isn’t what we think it is… yes, it’s all of those things BUT it goes beyond to be something much more profound. Besides, when you think about it, stopping at the invisible line that says NOW you’ve achieve success is a form of death.

The most successful people seem to enjoy even more success. Some would attribute that to the Law of Attraction (like attracts like) and, again, while true to a degree, it’s not a full explanation. Another possibility is that they’ve gotten ‘lucky breaks’ and now they have a reputation so people just ‘give’ them opportunities. But that isn’t true either… consider Donald Trump, Robert Downey Jr or Ellen DeGeneres, each of which lost nearly everything and had to re-boot their success even with their celebrity.

From the outside, success looks like an event when, instead, it’s really a dynamically evolving process – a progression of continuous momentum.

When you achieve one level of success, you begin to see a new level beckoning you. (Think of how you felt at the end of every school year… you probably looked forward to being a year old and what you thought that meant!)

Successful people engage victory because it’s possible. They think bigger. And they have done the work to position themselves to take advantage of new opportunities as they present and be congruent with the outcome of their success.

Ironically, one of the potential pitfalls of success is having a lack of “havingness” – the ability to enjoy what it is that you worked so hard to achieve. If you have not done the work to position yourself, the doors that should be accessible to you are closed or you can’t see them because of your vantage point.

Doing the work means aligning your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects to converge in readiness and then watching for your personal signposts to what awaits you next. It means cultivating your strengths and confronting your deficiencies with non-judgment and clarity to be your best version in this moment now, and now, and now.

In fact, real success is an internal state that is continuously unfolding. Why would you stop exploring Nirvana?

Take the time to finish this statement:

I know I’m successful by ___________________________.

After you have, read it out loud.

     Does it stir your soul?

     Does it feel too big to actually accomplish in your lifetime?

     Do you feel a resonance deep within you because of the truth in it?

If yes, great! You have your path to success in hand. If not, repeat until you can answer those questions with a yes.

Here is my statement: I know I’m successful by the degree of positive transformation in, for, with and through the people around me. When I think about that, I feel a quickening and I am inspired to make it evident every day. And I know I will never stop.
